The Factors of Jab Satisfaction, Degree of Occupational Satisfaction and Turnover Intention According to Characterization of Hair Beauty Service Workers

Abstract
This study selected as its subjects the workers involved in hair beauty service industry in the capital area (Seoul, Gyeonggi, Incheon), Gangwon area, Chungcheong area (Chungnam, Chungbuk, Daejeon), Honam area (Jeonju, Gwangju, Jeonju), and Yeongnam area (Gyeongnam, Gyeongbuk, Daegu, Busan). And the study investigated factors of job satisfaction, degrees of job satisfaction, and turnover intention according to their characteristics and gained the following results: According to the results of analysis by sex, the average values of their job satisfaction were similar in men and women. And about turnover intention, women showed higher turnover intention than men because of housework, childbirth, or child rearing. Regarding age, as they were older, they indicated higher satisfaction. About turnover intention, those at the age of 25 to 29 showed the highest turnover intention. About their academic career, financial factors were found to be similar, and regarding their interpersonal relationship, work environment, educational factors, and degrees of job satisfaction, as their academic career was higher, their satisfaction was higher. About turnover intention, those with academic career higher than college graduation (or attendance) indicated the highest turnover intention on account of self-development or poor environment. Regarding their marital status, married ones indicated higher satisfaction than unmarried ones. And unmarried ones showed higher turnover intention than married ones. Regarding the types of residence, the highest satisfaction was shown in their own houses, and the average values of turnover intention were found to be similar. About the number of workers, the highest satisfaction was shown in 16-20 workers in terms of financial and work environment factors. Regarding interpersonal relationship factors and job satisfaction, the highest satisfaction was shown in fewer than 5, and about educational factors, the lowest satisfaction was shown in 6-10, and the highest turnover intention was shown in 6-10. About work hours, the highest satisfaction was shown in less than 8 hours, and the highest turnover intention was shown in 8-10 hours. Regarding the number of days in a month, higher satisfaction was shown in more than 5 days than fewer than 4 days, and about turnover intention, the average values of fewer than 4 days and more than 5 days were found to be similar. About their average monthly salary, they showed higher satisfaction as their average monthly salary was higher. Regarding turnover intention, the highest turnover intention was shown in the average monthly salary of 2 to 2.5 million won. About their expected salary, the highest satisfaction was shown in the expected salary of over 5 million won. Regarding work environment factors and educational factors, the highest satisfaction was shown in the expected salary of 4 to 5 million won, and the average values of turnover intention were found to be similar. About their total vocational career, the highest satisfaction was shown in the total vocational career of over 10 years, and the average values of turnover intention were found to be similar. Regarding their major, the average values of financial factors in the beauty major and non-beauty major were found to be similar. And higher satisfaction was shown in the beauty major than in the non-beauty major regarding interpersonal relationship factors, work environment factors, educational factors, job satisfaction, and turnover intention. About their position, job satisfaction was higher when their position was higher. Turnover intention was the highest in part-timers, and other than part-timers, designers showed high turnover intention. Regarding the reason for choosing beauty service industry, job satisfaction was the highest when they had chosen it for high income. About work environment factors, the highest satisfaction was shown when they had chosen it for high income or it had been family business. Most of them chose it as it was right job for them, and the lowest turnover intention was shown when they went for it for high income. Therefore, based on the results above, we can see that there is slight difference in hair beauty service workers` job satisfaction factors, job satisfaction degrees, and turnover intention according to the characteristics.
